Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles from Daimler AG have triumphed again with seven awards in the categories "Best commercial vehicles in 2010" and "Best brands" in the publishing house ETM’s recent readers’ poll - now in its 14th year. The more than 7700 participants in the poll, who are readers of the "lastauto omnibus", "trans aktuell" and "Fernfahrer" commercial vehicle publications, selected the best vehicles from a field of 171 candidates. The prizes were awarded on 18 May in the Residenzschloss palace in Ludwigsburg - and the clear winner at the event was Mercedes-Benz.

Andreas Renschler, the Daimler AG Board of Management member responsible for Daimler Trucks and Daimler Buses, said: "With six awards in the best commercial vehicle categories and one award in the best brands category, the trucks, buses, vans and service offerings from Mercedes-Benz have again proved their market leadership. We are delighted to receive these awards and thank the readers of ETM publications for their active participation in the poll."

Mercedes-Benz with its Citaro again claimed first place in the urban regular-service bus category. The Mercedes-Benz Citaro is one of the biggest sellers in the history of regular-service buses. Now being produced in its second generation, more than 27,000 units of the vehicle have come off the assembly line since series production began in 1998. Its presence in almost all the cities of Europe and far beyond have helped boost its international reputation.

This year’s winner in the midicoach category was once again the Mercedes-Benz Tourino. The Mercedes-Benz Tourino midi-touring coach offers seating for up to 38 passengers and meets the increasing demand for easily manoeuvrable touring coaches used to carry smaller travel groups. No other midicoach boasts the Tourino’s winning combination of a rear engine and front axle with independent suspension, plus a full range of safety equipment including the Electronic Stability Program ESP®.
