Whether you're tackling wet and wintry driving conditions or towing a boat and trailer on holiday, the Viano MARCO POLO’s rear-wheel drive system treats you to a superior, smooth driving experience. This is most noticeable through its reduced influence on the steering wheel.
Even on mountainous roads carrying the whole family and luggage, you can rely on consistently high traction values. And all this with excellent handling and driving characteristics combined with peak driving comfort.
And if you forget something and need to turn back, the Viano MARCO POLO with rear-wheel drive offers excellent manoeuvrability and a remarkably small turning circle for a camper van (11.8 metres).
The 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive system [1] transfers the engine power to the front and rear axles on a 35:65 basis.
There are no mechanical locking differentials, as 4MATIC uses the 4ETS Electronic Traction System. This automatically applies brake pressure to individual, spinning wheels, while simultaneously increasing the torque to wheels with adequate traction. This results in better handling stability in many situations: on ice, snow or wet leaves, on poor roads, in the wet or when towing a trailer.
After all, you never know what you'll encounter on the road.
[1] Optional for Viano CDI 2.0 and 2.2, only in conjunction with standard automatic transmission.
