No other carmaker does as much research as Mercedes-Benz on forward-looking safety technologies against the ordinary hazards of road traffic. But we also provide outstanding protection against highly specific risks: Mercedes-Benz Guard.

Our special protection vehicles combine the human desire for mobility and for safety in a unique way, namely, directly ex factory. Beginning with the bodyshell, in much the same way as a standard production saloon a new, original vehicle, designed to your personal safety needs, is created from scratch. This principle of authentic design we term integrated protection.

We offer this additional comprehensive protection for the G-Class, too – based on the long-wheelbase version of the G 500 Station Wagon – notwithstanding the fact that it is one of the most robust Mercedes-Benz vehicle classes to begin with. The all-round armoured G-Class is certified to the highest ballistic protection levels, B6 and B7, offering protection against handguns, other small arms and long guns as well as against blasts up to a defined intensity.

The standard features of resistance level B7 G-Guard include an explosion-protected fuel tank, a special communication and alarm system, tyres with a pressure monitoring system and the "Rodgard" run-flat system, and an emergency starting system. The increased vehicle weight is taken into account with a modified suspension, reinforced axles and an adapted braking system. In the comfortable interior, an Alcantara roof lining and individual rear seats with ventilated, heated and electrically adjustable multicontour seats are standard equipment.
