In 2011 Masao Kozu found out that he "wasn't a bother" - quite the opposite! His enthusiasm and also his active involvement in the Mercedes-Benz Club Japan over many decades were officially paid tribute to as part of the celebrations marking the 125th anniversary of the motor car. Kozu was presented with the Silver Star Award in Berlin, an honour paid only to deserving members of the official Mercedes-Benz Clubs. "That was the best day of my life," said the recipient of the Award. Naturally, the pensioner, who lives in Kawasaki, very close to Tokyo, drives a car with the three-pointed star himself: a 190 E (model year 1993), since1993.
The self-declared "Mercedes nutter" has a strong interest in the latest models, too: "A Mercedes-Benz, to me, is and will always be the best and most attractive car in the world," declares Kozu in a voice that brooks no argument. And you've just got to believe him.
