The Sprinter with BlueEFFICIENCY package [1] [2] [3]

Our goal is to ensure your mobility in as economical and sustainable a manner as possible for the future. We group together under the term BlueEFFICIENCY all those innovations that help make this objective possible: intelligently combined measures aimed at reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

And the Sprinter with the BlueEFFICIENCY package[1][2][3] proves just how well this works. In particular in urban distribution transport, the interaction of the ECO start-stop function[4] a frugal diesel engine and further components ensures a significant reduction in fuel consumption and emissions – compared with the CDI diesel engines not equipped with the efficiency package by up to 0.5 l/100 km (OM 651) or 0.3 l/100 km (OM 642).

Legendary low fuel consumption

In its most frugal variant, powered by a 4-cylinder diesel engine (95 kW and 120 kW), ECO Gear manual transmission, efficiency package and an optional rear-axle ratio of 3.692, the Sprinter with commercial vehicle registration from 1.1.2012, impresses with a fuel consumption of just 7.0 litres per 100 km (combined). The CO2 emission level is 184 g/km (combined) [5].

The BlueEFFICIENCY package [1] [2] [3] is standard-specification for all variants powered by a CDI diesel engine. It consists of the following components:

OM 651 diesel engine (Euro V or EuroV/III) or OM 624 diesel engine (Euro V)
ECO start-stop function [4]
ECO power steering pump
On-demand control of fuel pump
Shift point recommendation [4]
Tyres with reduced rolling resistance [6]
Alternator management
Battery management

[2] The efficiency package with automatic transmission and 4x2 drive will only become available when the new 7G-TRONIC 7-speed automatic transmission is deployed (in all likelihood available from 1st quarter of 2012)
