Gentle starts on steep slopes

In the Vito and the Sprinter the start-off assist feature (AAS) enables comfortable, safe pulling away [1].

In particular, on uphill gradients, the AAS feature is a great relief for the driver: it maintains brake pressure briefly, preventing the vehicle from rolling back. When pulling away on the level, downhill or with the handbrake applied, start-off assist is not activated. This practical aid makes light work of pulling away on steep slopes.
