Cutting-edge seat belts and first-rate airbag equipment contribute significantly to the high protection potential of Mercedes-Benz vans. Three-point seat belts are the most important occupant protection system, and belt tensioners which keep the belt taut on the body when a collision occurs increase the passive safety in the event of an accident. Seat belt reminders give the driver or co-driver a visual and audible signal if either has forgotten to fasten the seat belt.
A number of Mercedes-Benz vans can be specified with windowbags and thorax bags to complement the driver and co-driver airbags. In a severe side impact, these additional bags deploy on the impact side. The windowbag serves to increase the degree of head protection available for the driver/co-driver. When triggered, it deploys in the area of the side windows. Housed in the outside bolsters of the seat backrests, thorax bags are deployed to provide increased protection for the thorax of the seat occupant.
Please note that these highly developed safety systems can only help you if you are wearing the seat belt correctly. That's why you should fasten your seat belt even on short drives. It is the most important safety system because it can most effectively limit the movement of occupants in the event of impact.
