eVAN. FAQ.
-
Is an electric van from Mercedes-Benz suited to my daily journeys?
With the EQ Ready App, you can better plan your first steps into electromobility. For example, you will find out whether an electrically powered Mercedes-Benz will get you through the working day on just a single charge: the app is free of charge and analyses your daily routes and your driving behaviour. The resulting driving profile will show you whether an electrically powered vehicle is a suitable option for you. Should you have any further questions on the topic of switching to electromobility, your Mercedes-Benz Partner will be happy to help you.
-
How do I charge my electrically powered Mercedes-Benz van?
You have a choice of charging options. The most obvious choice: the Mercedes-Benz wallbox or a charging solution specially designed by us for you at your premises. Plus there is a steadily growing number of public charging stations. You can charge your eVito Tourer PRO (eVito Tourer PRO with passenger car registration [M1] at a DC rapid charging station. 1 80 kW (high-voltage battery with 60 kWh) or with up to 110 kW1 (high-voltage battery with 90 kWh) charging power2 from 10 to 80 % in under 45 minutes. With the flexible charging system you are prepared for different charging situations: with this set you always have the right charging solution at your disposal.
-
What's the most efficient way to drive my electrically powered Mercedes-Benz van?
3 different drive modes and 5 recuperation stages assist you in maintaining an efficient driving style. Both functions allow you to optimise the energy consumption and thus the range of your eVito Tourer PRO (eVito Tourer PRO with passenger car registration [M1]) recuperation stage "DAUTO" helps you to make the best use of the battery charge. It automatically matches the recuperation level to the driving situation.
-
How much space is there in the eVito Tourer PRO (eVito Tourer PRO with passenger car registration [M1]?
The eVito Tourer PRO (eVito Tourer PRO with passenger car registration [M1] offers the same spacious load compartment as a Vito Tourer with a combustion engine, as the batteries are located in the vehicle underfloor.
-
How often does my electric van from Mercedes-Benz need servicing?
A yearly service is essential in order to guarantee the reliability of the high-voltage components and other vehicle parts. Thanks to the Maintenance Package included as part of the scope of delivery, this is free of charge to you for four years. If a battery replacement is required, you will benefit from a battery certificate for a duration of eight years or a total distance of 160,000 km. Should you have any further questions about the maintenance of electric vehicles, your Mercedes-Benz Partner will be happy to help you.
-
What is more economical for me – an electric or a combustion engine van?
Depending on the usage profile and considering subsidies for electromobility, the total cost of ownership (TCO) of an electric van can easily equal that of a vehicle with a combustion engine. The eCost Calculator makes it clearer for you: it provides information about comparing the annual running costs of your current vehicle with an electrically powered Mercedes-Benz.
-
Does the battery have to be bought or leased separately?
The battery is already included in the purchase price of your eVito Tourer PRO (eVito Tourer PRO with passenger car registration [M1]. This means that you will not incur any additional costs for battery rental. If, in the first 8 years or 160,000 km after initial registration, the battery's residual capacity falls below the threshold of 180 Ah, you are covered by the battery certificate. We will bear the costs of replacing the battery. And the best thing is: the battery certificate is included in the purchase price.
-
What is the difference between AC and DC charging?
The battery is always charged with direct current (DC) as available directly from DC rapid charging stations. Thanks to the high charging capacity, range can quickly be increased. During AC charging at wallboxes, or in exceptional cases via the domestic grid, the vehicle is charged using alternating current (AC). This is converted in the vehicle to DC current by an AC on-board charger before being fed into the battery. With the flexible charging system both options are possible, as it contains the appropriate phase connector for many different charging situations.
-
What connectivity offers are there from Mercedes-Benz for electric vans?
Many of the Mercedes PRO connect services are also available for electrically powered vans. The "Remote eCharging" service is available exclusively for vehicles with an electric drive. They make charging easier and more economical. Should you have any further questions about Mercedes PRO, your Mercedes-Benz Partner will be happy to help you.
-
Is there a warranty on the battery?
If, in the first 8 years or 160,000 km after initial registration, the 60 kWh battery’s residual capacity falls below the threshold of 120 Ah, or if the 90 kWh battery’s residual capacity falls below the threshold of 180 Ah, you are covered by the battery certificate. We will bear the costs of replacing the battery. And the best thing is: the battery certificate is included in the purchase price.
-
Is a charging cable included with an electrically powered van purchased from Mercedes-Benz?
A charging cable is not included with your electrically powered van from Mercedes-Benz. As an option, there are 4 charging cables with a type 2 charging connector which are available for order. You can choose between 4 m, 5 m and 8 m lengths as well as between single-phase and 2-phase charging. Should you have any questions, your Mercedes-Benz Partner will be happy to assist you.
-
What are recuperation stages?
As part of recuperation energy is recovered during vehicle deceleration. For example, the battery charges when going downhill, instead of losing the energy when braking in the form of heat. You can decide on the strength of recuperation by adjusting the steering wheel gearshift paddles in 5 stages: D– –, D–, D, D+. Recuperation stage "DAUTO" helps you to make the best use of the battery charge. It automatically matches the recuperation level to the driving situation.
-
How fast can I go in my electrically powered Mercedes-Benz van?
The standard top speed of your eVito Tourer PRO (eVito Tourer PRO with passenger car registration [M1] is 140 km/h. As an option, you can increase the maximum speed to 160 km/h. Bear in mind, however, that higher speeds are generally achieved at the expense of the vehicle range.
-
What range can be achieved daily by an electric van from Mercedes-Benz?
The range of your electrically powered van from Mercedes-Benz depends primarily on the vehicle configuration, especially the choice of its top speed. The actual range is furthermore dependent upon the individual driving style, road and traffic conditions, outside temperature, and use of the climate control/heating system and other electrical consumers. The power display and the recuperation stages help you to use the battery charge as efficiently as possible and achieve a greater range.
